Winter Skills £200

This 2 day course is aimed to equip you with the
skills needed to venture into the Scottish mountains during the winter. The skills gained through this course will give you the confidence to experience Scotland and Britain’s mountains in all there different conditions.
Course content:
- The use of crampons
- The use of an ice axe
- Route finding
- Avalanche awareness
- Emergency shelters
Winter Mountaineering £450

This course is for those who already have an understanding of winter skills and want to learn the skills to tackle some of the more demanding Scottish mountains in winter with confidence. During the course we will apply the new skill on Steeper ground to improve your confidence. Throughout the course we will aim to ascend some of Scotland’s classic routes, depending on your chosen venue Glencoe and Ben Nevis range or the Cairngorm.
Course Content:
- The use of Snow belays (buried axes and Bollards).
- Direct and Indirect Belays
- Movement Technique on steeper ground
- Avalanche awareness and Route choice
Intro Winter climbing £450
Ratio 1:2
This 5 day course is for those who want to experience winter climbing. During the course we will aim to climb classic routes in the grade range of I-III. This course can use a variety of locations in Glencoe, Ben Nevis Range or the Cairngorms
Course Content:
- The use of technical climbing axes.
- Removing protection
- Snow and Ice Climbing Technique
- Avalanche awareness and Route choice
Advanced Winter climbing £450
Ratio 1:2
This course is for those who have previous winter climbing experience and wish to progress. This may be learning to lead or pushing your grade. This course will cover all aspects of the intro course as revision, giving more time to focus on new skills. We will aim to work up to ground grade III-V. This course can use a variety of locations in Glencoe, Ben Nevis Range or the Cairngorms.
Course Content:
- Learning to lead
- Ice, Snow and Rock Belays and Stance Management
- Snow and Ice Climbing Technique
- Mixed climbing Techniques (hooking, torching etc.)
- Escaping a climb safely (Retreat)
